  1. Checked the repair manual and it doesn't show a reverse chain gears only? The springs were upgraded on the 2019 cab and utube comparisons mentioned less squat under load for the defender?🤔
  2. I would look at the halo locker if I was replacing the viscolock no experience with it but it looks like a good option? 🤔
  3. Hi welcome to the forum. I have a 2019 Defender Cab XT Hd10 on 30" cryptid tires that sits at 15 1/2" it's in the build section. No problems with mine. The 2020 is quieter, 82 Hp, emergency assist parking brake, 850 watt magneto and better access to the electrical system for add ons. You can check to see if Smart lock is an option on the limited it's an option on the XMR. I have always owned Canam and have never looked at or compared it to Polaris so no help there. If I was to upgrade the viscolock I would go to the same type that someone posted here in the build section, can't remember the name of it. Fyi.😉

    Noise

Start with the 2020 and upgrade from there, 10 more Hp, brake assist parking brake and quieter exhaust system. 😉
  5. If you are going to order the machine see if you can order the smart lock front differential as an option? It'soffered on the XMR and would be a must have over the viscolock if you are going to use the machine in the steep and deep.🤔
  6. A couple of things you can check before you replace the battery are: Try running the machine for a longer period of time to allow more charge time. Do you have any accessories on when the machine is running? Your charging system seems to be working with the voltage where it should be to charge the battery. Disconnect one of the terminals on the battery right after you have run the machine and leave it sit for several days or even a week or more checking your voltage to see if the battery drops voltage on its own. A slight drop of .1or .2 volts is okey and it should remain above 12.6 volts to indicate it is fully charged. Worst case you can take it out and have it load tested at a battery shop. You can charge the battery with a small charger set at 2 amps until it indicates full charge and again check the battery to see if it remains at 12.6 volts or higher. If your battery remains at 12.6 volts disconnected but drops steadily when connected to the cables you may have a parasitic loss slowly draining your battery. Your before ride voltage indicates your battery is not fully charged and the after ride voltage should be higher than the before ride not lower unless you have a large draw when the machine is running that is exceeding your charging currant??? Light bar, winch, stereo? Clean the battery cables if corroded with baking soda. If you decide to replace the battery remember to buy a 30 amp battery instead of the 20 it will provide you with 50% more reserve and the new ones have been upgraded to the 30 Amp. FYI🤔
  7. The side mirrors fold tight against the cab and you can push them back to the detent easily, so even if you forget to fold them in you probably won't damage them with an impact from the front? If your front wheels fit the opening it won't damage your mirrors. FYI😉
  8. Check out the side mirrors to see if they will fit in the defender builds section?🤔

    Noise

The matt looks good and will make it easier to clean the floor without all the cracks etc. I am sure it will have some effect on reducing interiro noise as well.☺️
  10. I don't want to start an oil wars commentary but when on warranty I use XPS BRP oil once off warranty I use a 0W-40 Amsoil fully synthetic. The 2018 Supplemental Shop Manual states if the recommended XPS oil is unavailable use a 4 stroke SAE 5W-40 oil that meets or exceeds API SM, SL or SJ service class on Page 8. You can check your operators manual as well.😉 The final decision on what to use is up to you!
  11. Take it back to the dealer and give them a few days to fix it or return your money. IMO The defender has an 80 page catalogue called accessories, riding gear and parts plenty of things to spend your money on.😉

    Noise

Eric, I was thinking of doing something similar to reduce interior noise. Don't forget the area at the back of cab under the seats etc, where the engine sits. The most benefit might actually be the floor area but I am not sure one could access that area from below to apply the sound insulation material. The dealer said that the 2020 has a thicker firewall plastic and maybe an insulated belt cover ???🤔
  13. You mentioned the dealer looked at it (the battery), did he test the battery to make sure its charged and can produce enough amps to the starter to turn the engine over? Loose battery terminals have already been mentioned. If the battery checks out good the next step would be to check out the amp draw at the starter, you may have a bad starter solenoid or starter? One good battery should be all that you need, they are now 30AH instead of 20AH in the older machines. Did the dealer test the charging circuit when the engine was running you should see 14.8 volts at 4000 RPM if the charging circuit is working correctly. If you have a voltmeter you should see 12.6volts or slightly higher when the battery is charged with no load. If you hit the starter and the battery voltage drops way down you may have a bad battery or a starter drawing too many amps. You may also have something drawing a currant when the engine is off if you find the battery voltage is lower than 12.6 volts when resting? Hope this isn't confusing the issue. I wouldn't add a second battery until I found out what your currnt problem is as you mention in your post. Adding a second battery in parallel can double the amount of reserve you have but both batteries should be new at the time of install if not the system will only be as good as the weaker battery. You can also add a larger capacity battery like the odyssey, there is room in the battery box for this and numerous posts.🤔
  14. The 2019 Defender XT Cab no longer includes the winch remote control as a package. There are two part numbers (Superwinch) 710004887 in the accessory catalogue and the 710007050 as an updated part number. The good news is the 050 number is about $10 cheaper than the 887 number. They look almost identical and either will plug in on the top left under the front hood. The round 1" with the plastic cap is the female connector. Many owners will rarely if ever use their winch but if you are a cutline rider like I am it will come in handy in at least two occasions: 1) When respooling line after winching or spooling on new line you can guide the line onto the winch drum with one hand and control the winch with the other. 2) You can't see the winch when in the cab so if you are by yourself its possible to pile up the line on one side of the drum and damage it, with the remote you can respool if necessary during the pull to prevent this. FYI😉
  15. Thanks but when I decide to go ahead with the install, I will buy and install a second terminal strip and install it where it is accessible under the dash or more likely under the hood. That way I only have to fight with the inaccessible terminal strip once. The LED light set I have only requires the light to be wired to a 12v, 3A source, the switch for the LED plugs into the 12 volt source plug on the dash and operates via RF, no wires. It includes an outlet for charging your phone etc.😥
  16. I was looking for 12 volt power under the hood and I couldn't find anything except the fuse box. There is power under the dash just to the right of the steering post but you have to be a contortionist to get to that source if your sxs comes with a heater. I want to wire a front LED light to mount on the front bumper and haven't found a suitible source, my light has the fuse in the wiring?🤔
  17. The BRP/Canam machines are made to start in Park or Neutral, but will also start in all gear positions if you hold down the brake. Anytime the ignition key has been left on for more than 30 minutes, turn the ignition to off before attempting to start. There is a 30 minute battery saver feature.😉
  18. Definitely 2020 if you can swing it, 30% quieter, 10 more HP and Parking assist brake.😉
  19. Good write up and the pics to prove it. Dupont Snow and Ice comes in a spray container was recommended on the sled forum. I haven't tried it yet but bought two cans. I intend to use it on the running board area of the sled where we tend to get snow and ice build up. Buy a can and spray part of the blade and see if it meets your expectations. Brakes, I suspect freezing of the calipers with the amount of snow your wheels are holding, which is normal for the job your doing. Brake fluid shouldn't be a problem but the brake calipers will freeze because of packed snow and ice and a warm rotor? 🤔
  20. Sorry I didn't read your whole post, just the fact that you wanted to remove your front wheel to repair the front tire in which case you remove the four 17MM nuts. The shop manual doesn't specify the size for the wheel nut so you may have to measure it with a tape, callipers etc. In the larger sizes you can get away with using an SAE wrench size which would be fairly close and not cause rounding. If you have a 15/16" open end or box end try that first if too large drop down to a 7/8" and or put on a crescent wrench and measure the opening size with a tape. 15/16 =.9375" 24mm =.9448". Metric conversion to inches divide by 25.4 22mm=.866". Hope this helps.🤔
  21. The website has some recommendations, you could start with the minimum and may have to top up if you get several punctures over time or if you buy the gallon you can use a bit extra right from the start? You could also ask your question to the help desk on the web, they seem to respond quickly.😉
  22. 1) With vehicle in park, turn ignition key on but do not start the engine. 2) Select the vehicle total mileage using the Mode button. 3) Press the Set button and hold while you switch the Hi and Low beam 3 times quickly. From the time the set button is pressed the hi and low beam activation must be complete in less than 5 seconds. 4) Release the set button and turn the key off. 5) Do not turn the key back on until the multifunction guage turns off. If you don't succeed the first time wait untill it times out and try again starting with step 1. I haven't tried this yet but this is the info from page 146 of the 2018 sxs Shop Manual Supplement.🤔
  23. Please let us know what you experience has been once you have installed and used the sealant for a while. If it works well that may be difficult to answer other than no more flats?😉
  24. LGS, low gear selected, mine just shows an L?🤔
  25. Mark on my guage cluster that indicator with key on shows you the position of your gear selector eg, park (P).😉
